The Scouter is a mini detector created and used by Frieza's army. It is intended to measure the powers of the characters in the Dragon Ball Z series. Although it is possible to detect the Ki of the warriors, the disadvantage of the Dragon Ball Scouters is that some warriors can hide their Ki.

When some Scouters detect a number that is too high, the device malfunctions and explodes if the warrior in front is too powerful. In the manga, there are several types of Scouter DBZ (green, red, blue). Their common point is nevertheless always the same, namely the limitation of combat potential. The 1st version is limited to 9000 units, the 2nd version is limited to 22,000 units and the 3rd version no longer has a calculation limit.
